We realize our members are students first, and we want to see them succeed academically. As a Fraternity, we provide education to our scholarship officers on utilizing campus resources for academic assistance and encourage them to consistently evaluate their chapter’s activities in order to make sure the member experience is fostering an environment that champions academic success. From the date of its founding in 1904, Alpha Gamma Delta has maintained high standards of scholarship as one of the objectives of the Fraternity. Each chapter is expected to attain high scholastic standing among the sororities on its campus; each member is expected to do her best academically as a matter of personal pride.
There are many ways we strive to be scholastic at the Omega Chapter. For sisters who have received below a 3.0 for the previous semester, we assign study hours to be completed each week. This motivates sisters to not only spend more time studying, but allows them to be creating bonds and working with sisters as they do so. Girls who receive above a 3.0 also have the opportunity to participate in various scholarship activities. This year, Omega will be instituting new scholarship teams. These teams are split up evenly by GPA, majors, and bigs/littles. Sisters earn points for their respective teams by studying together, going to a tutor, going to a professors’ office hours, or getting an A on an exam. Our chapter's average GPA for Spring 2017 was a 3.40 which was the highest average in the Greek community. We attribute our sisters' academic success to the many programs and rewards we have put into place over the years here at the Omega chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta.
